Etobicoke Volleyball May Put The Town Center Stage In The World

By Ericka Marsh

The one event which has put more small communities on the forefront for people all around the world are the Olympic Games. The year of an Olympic event is an exciting time, full of promise and potential for all countries who choose to show the spirit that only sporting competition can bring. With this comes the addition of new events, and in the years to come the Etobicoke Volleyball League may well show their strength and go for the Gold.

Located on the beaches of Lake Ontario in the Ontario Province in Canada, this is a small community within a larger city. This is a community few people in the world are familiar with, but through media coverage of the Olympic Games, they hope to draw new visitors. Anyone who travels to Toronto may appreciate the small-town feel, and wish to book their hotel room in this small borough.

For visitors to the region, some of the most acclaimed shopping in Toronto is located on these streets. Visitors are encouraged to embark on their journey around October and November so they can get all their Holiday shopping done. They maintain a clean city with a friendly, small-town atmosphere that visitors love; making it a comfortable place to inhabit while taking in the sites.

There are coaches who teach everyone from small three-to-five year-old kids on up to teens and young adults training for Olympic dreams. Elite programs exist for these athletes, preparing them to be on a winning team. Professional players from their national teams are in on it as well, helping to train and prepare many young Olympic hopefuls.

When a new place becomes headline news right before, during, or after an Olympic year, the whole world wins. Children learn better geography, and enjoy watching the Olympic hopefuls on television share their stories. This may even encourage some young people to do research on the history and culture of the area for homework assignments that year.

This sport, while originally played as a day-at-the-beach activity, has become an event which young women are paying more and more attention to. Historically only sporting events dominated by men have taken center stage in the world arena. Girls often avoid sports as a result, figuring that college scholarships and Olympic opportunities are not something that apply to them.

Not only do the Olympics act as an equalizer to gender, but in past years it has been a great equalizer to members of minority races. We now see nearly as many women and minorities represented in the Olympic Hall of Fame. As the world recognizes the inherent equality among all people, many new faces can be seen stepping up.

It is more than team building and learning the skills necessary for leadership. To many people, playing in sports is about self-empowerment and a sense of total achievement. The Olympic games is a massive sporting event which is known to be heavily laden in traditions that date back to the ancient days of Rome; and like those old Romans, being a good sport is a key character trait in a leader.
